Laura Panos has spent her career helping individuals resolve a wide range of workplace issues, recognizing that the end of employment—whether anticipated or abrupt—can be as emotional and life-changing as a personal breakup. Laura has the perspective and understanding of an employee.  After working through college and law school, Laura was corporate counsel for three organizations before starting her firm in 2004. A graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Laura has consistently earned the title of a Massachusetts Super Lawyer for ten consecutive years. She was named as a Top Woman of Law by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, an award honoring exceptional women who have made outstanding achievements in the field of law.

The Creation of The Employment Divorce®

Her years of experience, working both inside and outside of companies, led Laura to found The Employment Divorce® and Work Divorce™, an innovative service crafted to support people through challenging workplace transitions. The approach is unique in its focus: aiding those who have been dismissed, are considering resignation, or who are struggling in difficult work environments (Employment Therapy® and Work TherapyTM2). Clients receive expert guidance, benchmarking, comparable data, and assessments tailored to their particular market and industry, covering both voluntary and involuntary terminations.

Depth of Experience

With over 30 years of experience in employment law, Laura blends legal expertise with strategic, empathetic support. She has represented thousands of clients in matters ranging from complex terminations involving various forms of equity, to cases involving multiple forms of discrimination, including those related to invisible disabilities. Her practice also includes assisting executives and associates affected by corporate downsizing or restructuring, and more recently, guiding menopausal clients seeking medical condition leaves—an area requiring particular insight and compassion.

I’m Laura Panos. I’ve been personally representing clients with workforce issues for over 30 years. You will work directly with me, not an associate, to solve your work problem. My goal is always to obtain your best outcome.

A Mission Focused on Individual Needs

At the core of The Employment Divorce is a mission to help clients navigate employment crises with personalized strategies, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs understood. There is no one-size-fits-all solution; instead, each client receives advocacy tailored to their circumstances, with the goal of negotiating the best possible outcome. The process aims to restore clients’ confidence and sense of self-worth, safeguarding their personal and financial well-being during times of professional upheaval.

Comprehensive Support for Workplace Separations

Through The Employment Divorce®, Work Divorce™ and Employment Therapy®, Work TherapyTM clients benefit from tailored legal strategies and support designed for workplace “break ups” crafted by a seasoned advocate. The focus on terminations and reductions in force means that the firm brings a broad perspective of market data to each case, analyzing traditional factors that include tenure, compensation, and position, while recognizing that each client has different facts and needs. The ultimate goal is to achieve exceptional outcomes that provide a result that yields the value of each client’s situation.

Work can be both personal and meaningful. When it ends, individuals deserve more than a boilerplate resolution—they deserve an end that is substantial and affirming.  Laura works with clients toward that meaningful resolution, using it as means to provide satisfying closure, allowing clients to move on to their next opportunity.
