Evidence really has to do with your own actions and causing your own termination or separation. While in a no-fault divorce state it doesn’t matter what you do, in an employment situation, your actions and behavior matter a great deal. Never give an employer a good reason to fire you. Pay attention to what you do and don’t do and be accountable for every action, big or small. Don’t take people or your job for granted. Don’t believe that he/she will never leave or never fire you. Be active in your own life and be a conscious participant. Act deliberately. Too often people get lazy, and they think just showing up is enough. Performance based relationships and jobs require effort. Both also require some intelligence in your actions. Don’t use your Company computer for anything other than work. Don’t blast emails that are inappropriate and offensive. Don’t steal data or confidential information. Don’t cheat your company.
The potential for overreaction can come after termination as well, when emotions are high. Any outburst can limit your ability to negotiate your departure.
Be careful and professional in your use of words, written, said, in person or on social media. In the age of electronic communication, you can never escape what you do. You’ll have a much better chance of future success if you can hold your head high from your last position.
