Sometimes you can feel something is changing. Maybe you are being left out of certain events, or your opinion is now being discounted. If you feel what is akin to a cool breeze coming through any relationship, pay attention.
Your instinct is usually right. In your work, it can be that you are not getting the best projects, or it can be that you are being held to a higher standard than your peers. You feel you are not getting the attention you deserve.
Your perception can be right on, but there’s no way for you to know whether it’s your imagination or whether it’s real and a true sign that a significant change is about to take place.
Don’t get caught off guard; start to write things down. Get a blank diary or journal and begin to document day by day everything that is happening.
Your instinct may be right that your employment relationship is about to be affected, or it may turn out that you are making too much of a situation. There’s no way to know for certain, and more importantly, you may not remember everything that you need to if you do not collect all of the facts accurately. If you don’t document accordingly, by the time you realize you should have been paying closer attention it may be too late. You will never accurately remember all the dates and times of events, and journaling everything keeps it in one place for you and can become a timeline later if needed.
